scbcast is a server process for broadcasting SCore-D monitoring
information to client processes, such as
sctop(1). scbcast must be
invoked before SCore-D and the client monitoring processes.
SCore-D and the client monitoring processes will make TCP/IP
connections to scbcast, and the monitoring information produced by
SCore-D is broadcast by scbcast to its clients.
Since scbcast simply broadcasts the information passed from SCore-D to
its client processes, client-name is only the identifier
for the default port number.
If -cascde option followed by a hostname is specified, then
the invoked scbcast becomes a cascade from a scbcast
running on the host specified by the hostname.
The options available for scbcast:
- client-name
-
Specifies the client name for the default port number of the client.
Available client monitoring process names are: sysmon and
syslog
- -cascade hostname
-
Specifies the hostname to cascade from. This option allows scbcast
servers on different hosts to attach to each other in a cascading fashion.
This means scored only has to provide data to one scbcast
server in the chain
