Dear list members,
It is very useful for HPC benchmarks to measure some performance
characteristics of programs. There is a nice tool named "lperfex" which is a
hardware performance monitor for linux/IA32 systems described at:
http://www.osc.edu/~troy/lperfex/
Example of measurements:
dcharpin {1021}-> lperfex -y -e 41 -e P6_MUL ./a.out
1 2.5
2 1.25
3 0.78125
./a.out: 1.12s CPU, 1.11s wallclock
(100.90% CPU utilization) on essf (2x Intel Pentium III 501.1 MHz)
TSC 558257627
PMC[0] (P6_FLOPS) 17430090
PMC[1] (P6_MUL) 27900665
Statistics (averaged across threads):
---------------------------------------
MFLOPS 15.702784
FP multiplications/total FP ops 1.600718
Before to install this tool, it is necessary to install the patch
"perfctr-2.4.3" in the kernel.
Please, could you investigate the possibility to install it in the next Score
release ?
Thank you for your support.
Best regards,
Daniel Charpin
