Dear Atsushi,

thanks for your reply but even in single user mode I get the same error. 
It seems that
something in the score environment isn't working but I'm not smart enough to
work out what it is...

scout hostname
[cd-ia64]:
cd-ia64

./score/bin/mpirun -np 1 ./runcpi
FEP: Unable to connect with SCore-D (cd-ia64)
